A Dream Life 2
I found Mr. John Burns sitting on the front row, I quickly approached him, sat beside him and greeted, "Hello, John, what brings you here."
"Hello, Josephine, haven't see you a long time, how are you?"
"I am good thank you, I had won a lottery, and I'd used the prized money to buy a vintage house in Kowloon Tong. And how have you been doing lately?"
"I am still the same, but I am putting my trading business on Internet, I am the owner of an Internet Market, there should have something you like to buy, please do visit my web site." John handed me a business name card, which is written 'This market is not a Jack of all trades. Only selling the professional items.'
I asked John, "What do you sell?"
John said, "I sell everything I have bought, from coffee beans, tea leaves, skin care products and cosmetics, soaps, and canned food, underwear and outfits. But no jewelry."
"I am interested, anyway, why you are here?"
John, "I am here to deliver my business name cards to the guests. And why you are here?"
I told him, "I am looking for a statement-ring."
John looked at my fingers, and said, "You have statement rings."
"I want a bigger statement."
I had mistakenly bought six big rings made of black mother of pearl; the auctioneer said it all came from a set of six pieces napkins rings, cannot be sold separately.
During our conversations, I know this rich man just bought a factory building, which was the original site of a wooden warehouse, during the 1900 they called the warehouse a 'godown'. The building is too low and the space too small, no modern estate developer interested, and the building has a single deed, cannot be sold separately.
Due to this 1900 land deed, no restriction on purpose of usage. John made a home in the attic.
He invited me to his home for dinner, therefore I have to bring some freshly cut antique roses from the yard, and some home made chocolates in exchange for his dinner.
This morning I read newspaper, found Mr. Duncan, the most wanted bachelor in Hong Kong, he is looking for new business investments and a photograph was taken with my lawyer, George Scott.
Therefore I rang up George and try to promote my marketing skills to this most wanted banker, "George, please introduce me to Peter Duncan, I have a lot of businesses to do with him."
George booked a table at the Jockey Club restaurant, on Wednesday night. I have to iron my dress, now.
After the dinner, Peter Duncan decided to buy a 1920 Art Deco house in the southern Hong Kong island. And he wanted to build a swimming pool right behind the wall besides main entrance, may be for theft-proof reason, when the thief climbs over the wall will fall down to the pool. Likewise, I'd bought my vintage Holden, because it is theft-proof, who dares driving my unique car?
